My passion is to educate and help families. I want to do this before they are emotionally and financially overwhelmed.”
Glen King

As the youngest son of a minister, Glen King was introduced to funerals at a very young age. Over these formative years he accompanied his father to meet with families and soon discovered first-hand the reverence and importance of funeral work. He recounts that in his teens he assisted at times in digging graves, moving caskets and drove hearses as needed long before completing his Funeral Director’s license.
He says, “I felt convicted to make the funeral business my full-time vocation. I joined a family owned funeral business in Harlan, Kentucky – Bianchi Funeral Home before moving to Oak Ridge, TN and working for the Martin Funeral Home. A few years later the firm was sold to a corporate funeral company where I oversaw several funeral homes and cemeteries. This gave me the opportunity to understand from a financial standpoint how the funeral business operated and how financial records were audited. In 2001, I started the process of buying my own funeral home with a long time business partner Ellis Galyon, and in 2007 bought my partner out.
Glen says, “In the last thirty years, as a licensed Funeral Director, I have learned a lot of valuable information. My focus has always been taking expert and loving care of those when they are in their most vulnerable state. There is not a greater honor than being asked to step intimately into a family, to help in the most trying of situations, to make sense of what is happening and help navigate necessary processes when they have lost a loved one.”
During the course of his 30+ years in the business, Glen developed a broad spectrum of experience including managing several funeral homes and cemeteries for the second-largest funeral home company in the world. Not just taking care of families but also doing audits and learning the various duties that go along with this company including auditing and managing numerous funeral homes. He has served on the Tennessee Funeral Directors Association Board in eastern Tennessee and has personally conducted more than 7,000 funerals.
